SAN JOSE, Calif. - The No. 8 UC Irvine women's water polo team (13-8, 5-5) defeated No. 9 San Jose State 6-5 in the fourth overtime Saturday afternoon in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.
Junior Gianna Rossi scored the game-winning goal for the Anteaters on a counter-attack following an assist from senior keeper Lauren Machanis in the fourth overtime period to give UCI the 6-5 victory. Senior Jessica Lewis led UCI with two goals in the match.
The Anteaters return to action Sunday as they travel to Palo Alto to take on No. 2 Stanford at 1:00 p.m. in MPSF play.
