STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 8 UC Irvine women's water polo team (13-9, 5-6) lost 10-4 to No. 2 Stanford Sunday afternoon in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play at Avery Stadium.

The Cardinal took a 1-0 lead in the first period and built up a 5-1 lead at the half. Stanford would outscore UC Irvine 5-3 in the second half to seal the 10-4 victory.

Sophomore Kat Plummer had two goals to lead the Anteaters. Senior keeper Lauren Machanis had 10 saves for the `Eaters.

The Anteaters return to action Thursday as they travel to Long Beach to face Long Beach State in MPSF play as part of the Black & Blue Rivalry Series.
