SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 8 seed UC Irvine women's water polo team (15-12) lost 7-6 to No. 11 Cal State Northridge in the ninth place match of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship at the Aztec Aquaplex.

The Anteaters took a 3-1 lead after the first period. Cal State Northridge cut the lead to 4-3 in the second period. UCI lead 5-4 heading into the final period and was outscored 3-1 in the final period of play as the Matadors took ninth place in the MPSF Championship.

The Anteaters complete the year with a 15-12 record overall.
