IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women’s water polo team has received seven national letter of intent to attend and compete in women’s water at UCI, announced by Anteater head coach Dan Klatt.

The seven student-athletes will enroll at UCI in fall of 2009 and be eligible to compete in the 2010 season.

 

Jessy Cardey is a three-time All-Ivy League player at Riverside Poly High School. She has been named All-CIF DIII in each of her first three seasons at Poly. Cardey was named to the Press Enterprise All-County first team in her first three seasons.

Devin Crothers is a two-time All-Ivy League water polo player and three-time All-Ivy League swimmer at
Riverside Poly High School
. She was named All-CIF third team in water polo in 2008. She was a member of the 208 CIF Division II water polo championship team and was the 2008 Ivy League champion in the 50 freestyle.

Katie Groff is a four year varsity water polo player and swimmer at
Foothill High School
. She was the 2005 Junior Olympic All-American goalkeeper. Groff had been a field player, but will move back to goalie for her senior season.

Kelsey Klatt is a four-time All-Central section CIF honoree at
Sunnyside High School. She has earned All-American honors in water polo and swimming while at Sunnyside. She represented the Fresno Dolphins in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha
.

Morgan McCardell was All-Pacific View League first team in each of the last two seasons and All-CIF first team as a junior at
Rio Mesa High School
. She has been Co-MVP of the Rio Mesa swim team each of the past three seasons and holds four school records.

Tiffany Norys was named West Yosemite League MVP her senior year at El Diamante High School. Norys led El Diamante to two Division II CIF Valley Championships and was named All-Valley twice including first team honors as a senior.


 

 


Rebecca Voytilla was named All-Valley first team as a senior at
Buchanan High School. She was named Most Improved as a sophomore and a senior. She was awarded the Outstanding Player Award at the Sierra Shootout tournament this season.

 

Coach Klatt says, "We are excited to have our biggest recruiting class to date coming to UCI for the fall of 2009. This group of young women bring an exceptional amount of talent and high level water polo experience to our program.”
