No. 13 Anteaters Host No. 3 UCLA

NO. 13 ANTEATERS HOST NO. 3 UCLA: The No. 13 UC Irvine women's water polo team (7-9) will host No. 3 UCLA Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in non-conference play at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Bruins are 12-5 on the year. In UCLA’s two most recent matches, they have played a total of 14 overtime periods. They beat Cal in the third place match of the UCI Invitational in the eighth overtime period and lost to Hawaii this past week in the sixth overtime period. Grace Reynolds leads UCLA with 24 goals on the year.
WEEK IN REVIEW: UCI went 0-2 in the Bay Area with a 10-4 loss at No. 2 Stanford and a 7-4 loss at No. 7 San Jose State. Junior Caitlin Haskell (Fresno/Buchanan HS), senior Kat Plummer (Thousand Oaks HS) and junior Cortney Collyer (Santa Barbara HS) each had two goals on the week to lead the team. Junior keeper Lauren Davis (Downey HS) had eight saves over the two matches.
ANTEATER LEADERS: Caitlin Haskell leads UCI with 25 goals on the year. Cortney Collyer is second with 18. Freshman Jessy Cardey (Riverside/Poly HS) is third with 17 goals. Kat Plummer is fourth with 16 and senior Erin Kiene is fifth with 11. Lauren Davis has 54 saves to lead the ‘Eaters.
UCI RANKED 13TH IN NATION: The Anteaters are ranked 13th in the country in the National Collegiate Water Polo poll. UCI has been ranked as high as 9th this season. The ‘Eaters ended the 2009 season ranked 9th nationally following their Big West Tournament championship.
ANTEATERS IN THE RECORD BOOK: Kat Plummer is seventh with 113 goals. Caitlin Haskell is 10th with 65 goals. Cortney Collyer is tied for 11th with 63 goals. Senior Erin Kiene (Fresno/Clovis West HS) is 14th with 60 goals. Keeper Lauren Davis is fourth all-time with 170 saves and Morgan Vickers is fifth with 152.
COACH KLATT: Head coach Dan Klatt is in his sixth season leading the ‘Eaters. He was named 2009 Big West Coach of the Year after guiding UCI to the Big West Tournament championship and a Big West regular season tri-championship. He is 90-66 in his first five seasons at the helm.
