Women's Water Polo:
Rossi, Vickers and Klatt Win Awards; Five Anteaters Named All-Big West

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's water polo team swept the three major awards and had five players earn All-Big West honors as announced by the Big West Conference Wednesday. Senior Gianna Rossi (Fresno/Central HS) was named Big West Player of the Year while freshman Morgan Vickers (Newport Harbor HS) was tabbed Big West Co-Freshman of the Year while head coach Dan Klattt picked up Big West Coach of the Year honors Wednesday. Senior Julia Fancher (La Verne/Bonita HS) and Gianna Rossi each earned All-Big West first team honors. Senior Ashling Taylor (Newport Beach/Long Beach CC) and junior Kat Plummer (Thousand Oaks HS) each picked up All-Big West second team honors. Sophomore Cortney Collyer (Santa Barbara HS) was named All-Big West honorable mention.
The `Eaters were Tri-Big West regular season champions and went on to win the Big West Conference Tournament in the conference's first year of sponsoring women's water polo. The team had their best season in program history with a 23-9 overall record.
